2nd Anniversary Charity Night (9th May 2008)Sittingbourne RGT's 2nd Anniversary Charity
night on 9th May 2008 saw a record crowd of just under 2000 people who came along to support us and the total raised for the evening was
£5029.16. 70 Retired Greyhounds some of whom were PAT Dogs (Pets As Therapy Dogs) and Medway Greyhound Support members as well as our own were in
attendance and there were two parades to show our appreciation of the people that had homed them and to help raise awareness that greyhounds make great pets. The families of the retired greyhounds in
attendance were delighted that some of the trainers took time out to go down to see them. It was noted that the greyhounds recognised the trainers and were pleased to see them again. The South East
Afghan Racing Club came along once again to support us and put on a very entertaining race which was won by 'Twiggy'. We are greatful to the Club for supporting us time and time again and for helping to
make the evening as enjoyable as possible. (Photo's to follow shortly) It was nice to see Noreen and Ann from the Mildenhall RGT on the evening who took time out from their busy schedule to come along and
offer support, thanks Ann and Noreen! Caffyns
of Tunbridge Wells sponsored the chance for people to win a brand new £10,000 Vauxhall Agila and we will be announcing if somebody has won it shortly.
Many thanks to Chris Loveys and everyone at Caffyns for their generous support. One of the many highlights of the evening was the 'Super Hero' race which consisted of some of the Kennel Hands and Stadium
Staff dressing up as 'Batman', 'Superman', 'Bananaman', 'Spiderman', 'Mr Incredible' and 'Buzz Lightyear' to run a 199m flat race, but what they didn't know until just before the race was that they had to do
the last 100 odd yards on a 'Space Hopper'! 'Bananaman' slipped into the lead and won the race but to me the star of the show was 'Buzz Lightyear' who had to be carried across the line still sitting on
the space hopper by Bill Buckley and Tony Killingbeck! We would like to thank all the participants of the Super Hero Race for being great sports and I'm sure they will all be looking forward to what we
dream up for them to do next year!! We would like to thank The Stadium and their Staff for all their hard work and continued support. A BIG THANK YOU also to all the Sponsors of the evening and to
everyone that came along to help us celebrate and make the evening a great success. Below is the video for the Super Hero Race and Alvin Melville's cheque presentation for £1250
Photos of the evening will follow shortly.

Leeds Castle (26th & 27th April 2008) It was another glorious day and when we arrived we were greeted
by 'Charlie' the Peacock admiring his reflection in our trailer and eventually after about half an hour he decided he'd had enough and wandered off. We took Sylvie and Bosh on the first day and Micra and
Recon on the second day, Ann brough Minnie with her and the Gibb family brought along Honey and they were all well behaved and were a fine example of the nature of the breed.
Sarah from the Medway Greyhound Support Group came along with Sally and Knocker to lend a handWe were very busy on both days and we gave out lots of information and we thank Leeds Castle for making us
feel very welcome. A big thank you to everyone who came along to see us especially Rebecca. Below are some of the pictures from our time at the Leeds Castle. |

Sainsbury's Park Farm Folkestone (19th April 2008) Another cold and wet day and we had to
lash the tent to the trolley shelter to stop it blowing away but we met some very nice people and quite a few people still took the time from doing their shopping to come over and say Hi. We thank Sainsbury's and
all their customers for making us feel welcome despite the weather Below are some of the pictures from our time at Sainsbury's. |

LOCAL BEAVERS HELP OUT THE SITTINGBOURNE RETIRED GREYHOUND TRUST The local Merston and Bapchild Beaver Colony raised £100 for the Sittingbourne Retired
Greyhound Trust by doing a 10 minute sponsored silence and jog. No mean feat for boys aged between 6 and 8. Team leader Liz Earl and assistant leaders, Les Earl and Nigel Brandon helped Bradley, Joshua, Callum,
Dennis, Gavin, Christian, Dawson, Shane and Reece with the sponsored silence and jog as part of their term challenge celebrating the scouting centenary.Sittingbourne Retired Greyhound Trust mascot "Homer"
the greyhound was on hand to accept the money which was presented by the beavers at the Central Park Stadium on Friday 19th
October 2007 and will help to raise awareness that greyhounds make great pets and ensure that even more of these lovable and rewarding dogs get the future they deserve.
Well done to everyone involved and a big Thank You from everyone at the Sittingbourne Retired Greyhound Trust. |

Challock Goose Fair (9th September 2007) In true Bill and Lindsay fashion we were the
last to arrive, and this was the closest to the kennels as we can get!! We had a great time with the greyhounds that Anthea and Alfie and Lorna and John bought along and in total we had seven greyhounds at this event
, a new record for us!We were busy all day talking to people and giving out information but Robbie still had time to enter one of the doggy competitions but unfortunately was pipped at the post and came away empty
pawed. Thank you to everyone who came along and we look forward to seeing you all in 2008. Below are some of the pictures of our day at the Goose Fair. |

RGT Van presentation and new tent (August 2007) The Central Park Stadium and
Sittingbourne Greyhounds kindly donated a Mercedes Benz Vito Van to the Sittingbourne RGT and this will help us greatly with getting everything to the meet and greets and events. The sign writing was donated by
Barming Signs of Maidstone and Full Circle of Marden will donate their time in maintaining it for us, we thank them both for this kind gesture.A new pop up tent was donated to us by Nick and Lucy Cheetham, this will
also be used for the events and as it is over double the size of our old one we should be nice and dry should the weather turn nasty! Below are some pictures. |

Cheque Presentation (August 2007) There was a presentation of a cheque for £950.00 to us
which was from Martin Wodhouse, Lynne and Gerry Froggett who completed a short walk of "630 miles" from Minehead to Poole via Lands End with the support of their dogs, one of which was "Millie" who was one of the first
dogs that we homed. The diary of their walk can be read on our website. The walk was also for ABC—Against Breast Cancer, and together they raised over £3000. WELL DONE and a big thank you. Below are some pictures. |

they do best and relaxed. Over the three days we raised £74.00 as well as giving out lots of information. There were lots of comments about the van. Thank you to everyone at Farming World for their hospitality.
