The Lord Whisky Sanctuary Fund was formed in 1981 and takes its name from a Jack Russell who lived with the charity’s founder Margaret Todd and her family for 16 years. The sanctuary is run by Margaret, her husband Ron, son Alex and daughter Tina with a dedicated staff and band of voluntary workers.
At Park House, a safe home is offered to any wild or domestic creature who needs it. No animal is ever put down unless in pain. As long as an animal is healthy and capable of enjoying life, the Sanctuary believes it has a right to that life. Number vary, but generally there are around 200 animals in residence including dogs, cats, horses, donkeys, goats, sheep, birds, foxes, badgers, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, heghehogs and pigs (including Mabel, the remaining one of three pigs saved from market). All these creatures have come to the Sanctuary as victims of accidents, neglect, cruelty, desertion or simply through domestic upheaval. Where possible new homes will be found, but animals that cannot be rehomed will be cherished at the Sanctuary for their rest of their lives. The Sanctuary will always strive to return wild animals to their natural habitat.
The work of the Sanctuary is supported solely by bequests and donations and by The Friends of Lord Whisky. We receive no public funding.

So far the Parks have returned to the wild Przewalski’s horses, black rhino, Sumatran rhino, Cape buffalo, ocelots, pythons and nine gorillas.

The Museum of Kent Life is a place where you can discover the rich and vibrant history of the people who lived and worked in the Garden of England over the past 150 years. It is a place where you can step back in time and re-discover the rural life of Kent on our beautiful 28 acre farm, leaving behind the modern world and experiencing the sights, sounds and smells of country life in Kent. As you stand beside the Oast house in the middle of our site, it’s hard to believe that Maidstone town centre is only a few minutes away.
Come and view our many buildings from around the County, which have been saved from destruction, and perfectly rebuilt and restored to their true essence. The last five years have witnessed the addition of Petts Farm House, Ulcombe Village Hall, Old & Water Cottages, Cuxton Chapel and a new Agricultural Store. We are constantly seeking to add new buildings and displays to the site.
The Museum of Kent Life is one of the few remaining places in Britian where hops are grown, harvested, dried and packed in our magnificient double Oast house by hand, using only time honoured, traditional techniques. This process is celebrated at our annual Hop Festival in September.
We rear many varieties of farmyard animals including sheep, cows, pigs, horse, rabbits, ducks, geese, chickens, rescued goats and our adorable bottle fed lambs. Adults and children can pet and sometimes hold the animals as the Cobtree Young Farmers have trained and handled them all on site. The Cobtree Young Farmers meet every Saturday at the Museum to keep their animals clean and healthy.
Stonelees Golf Centre is located between Sandwich and Ramsgate, set quietly away from the A256.
Opened in 1994, Stonelees Golf Centre offers three 9 hole courses, each course demanding a different ability level, from the 1159 yard Par 3, through the demanding Executive course to the challenging full length Heights course.
