Jay Jay
Below is a story about Jay Jay (one of the greyhounds we have in the kennels waiting to be homed).
It is written by a lovely little girl called Megan who I met round some friends of mine called Peter and Lynne, I showed Megan the website and talking greyhounds, which she loved, I said that if she drew me a picture or wrote a story about a greyhound I would put it on the website.
Well Megan has gone one better and done both!
I think it is a really lovely story and the picture looks just like Jay Jay, well done Megan.

Burham Junior Youth (School Years 4 to 6) 8 to 11 year olds.
We held a competition for Burham Junior Youth to draw the best picture of a greyhound.
The standard was very good and it was extremely difficult to pick a winner but we eventually settled on Abigail aged 9 as the winner with Madeleine aged 8 second and Stephanie aged 9 in third place.
Congratulations to Abigail and well done to everyone.
All the entries can be seen below.
Winner 2nd Place 3rd Place
Abigail Age 9 Madeleine Age 8 Stephanie Age 9
We eventually decided on Abigails picture because it had a 3D type effect, the greyhound was drawn on a seperate piece of paper and then cut out (extremely well, I might add) and stuck onto her background picture.
Unfortunately this does not show up very well on my scanned picture but it looks very effective on the real thing.
Madeleine’s picture shows a lot of imagination with the flowers at the bottom and the butterflies surrounding the greyhound flying up into the sky with the sun just poking through the clouds.
Stephanie has taken a different approach, again showing a lot of imagination, with her drawing of a cartoon greyhound with makeup on (note the red lipstick and eyeshadow).
All the entries were of a very high standard and it is just unfortunate that they all couldn’t win.
Well done to all the other entries!
